RM ASG Centaur Conversion (Airfix)

To go with Airfix's release of the Cromwell tank in 1/76 scale we have created an enhanced conversion set.  Employing the techniques of our set for the Revell kit, we have revised and improved the set to make a much more comprehensive product.  The kit comprises pierced roadwheels, a replacement driver's glacis plate with blanked MG position, a 95mm CS Howitzer plus a second Howitzer moulded with the canvas mantlet waterproofing bag and a dial sight for the turret roof.

The Royal Marine Armoured Supprt Group operated Centaurs on D-Day.  The intention was that they bombard German fortifications from their landing craft.  In fact, once the beaches had been overrun, they advance with the forward troops inland and it is thought that RM Centaurs advanced further inland than any other troops on D-Day.  They were origianlly due to return to the UK directly after D-Day but, in the event, remained up to a fortnight afterwards.
