Sherman Mk III (early production)

Our first exclusive Modelworks vehicle kit!

Shermans of this configuration were used by 8th and 27th Armoured Brigades, both of which fought in Normandy from D-Day.  8th Armoured Brigade was employed on Gold Beach, supporting 50th Infantry Division and incorporated 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards, 24th Lancers, and the Nottinghamshire Yeomanry.  27th Armoured Brigade landed on Sword Beach and incorporated 13/18th Hussars, Staffordshire Yeomanry, and East Riding Yeomanry. 

Specific features of note are the three-bar-cleat tracks, narrow (M34) mantlet and the turret bin. The early model Sherman IIIs may be identified by the smaller direct vision slot drivers hatches.  The glacis plate was also made up of a number of parts welded together where later models were a sinfle plate.  They are created to accompany the transfer sets for these units
