Sherman Mk III (mid production)

Another exclusive Modelworks vehicle.  

This mid to late model Sherman III (M4A2) was used in the Normandy Campaign. Shermans of this configuration were used by 8th and 27th Armoured Brigades, both of which fought in Normandy from D-Day. 8th Armoured Brigade was employed on Gold Beach, supporting 50th Infantry Division and incorporated 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards, 24th Lancers, and the Nottinghamshire Yeomanry. 27th Armoured Brigade landed on Sword Beach and incorporated 13/18th Hussars, Staffordshire Yeomanry, and East Riding Yeomanry.

The Sherman IIIs of these brigades are identifiable by some specific features - notably three-bar-cleat tracks, narrow (M34) mantlet and the box turret bin.  The differences from the early model Sherman III are subtle -they have the squared 'box' type driver's hatches and a slightly modified engine deck.
