After deployment with the BEF in 1940, 3 Royal Tank Regiment served throughout the campaign in North Africa before returning to the UK for the coming invasion. The Regiment therefore provided a high level of experience to the other units of 29th Armoured Brigade. Their first action in Normandy as a unit was the attack across the Odon - Operation Epsom. Despite difficult conditions they performed well and 11th Armoured Division quickly grew a reputation for toughness under the command of General ‘Pip’ Roberts.
The set has specific markings for 3 x Sherman Mk V and one Mk Vc Firefly. In addition it has generic markings for a further nine vehicles.
