Corps Recce Regts, NW Europe
Actions like the Inns of Court’s push deep inland on D-Day were pivotal to the success of the landings but many commentators ignore their role. Every advance had flank cover provided by Recce units but their feats are often little more than footnotes. It is hoped that this set goes some way to reminding modelmakers of their contribution to the Normandy campaign.
The four Corps Recce Regiments in Normandy were operated independently of the British armoured divisions, though in almost all circumstances served alongside a specific division. In August ‘44 they were absorbed into these divisions.
For the second print run of this popular set, some improvements have been incorporated. Markings for Daimler Dingos and AEC Armoured Cars have been added, plus the distinctive unit marking for 1st Kings Dragoon Guards - unusual for having its own Regimental badge.
