Crusader AA Mk III Conversion Set
Prior to the invasion of North-west Europe, provision had to be made to provide local anti-aircraft support for armoured units. The then obsolete Crusader tank was selected as suitable as a gun platform. A number of designs were tested, and the Mk III version had been settled on as the standard vehicle. Six were supplied to each armoured and tank regiment. However, Allied air superiority meant that they saw very little use in their intended role and, in due course, AA troops were disbanded so that the crews could be re-deployed to gun tanks. Czech and Polish units appear to have retained them at least until the winter of 1944.
