Humber Scout Car - Sharpshooters Special Edition

The Rootes Group began production of a Scout Car based on the chassis of their Light Reconnaissance car in 1942, as an alternative to the Daimler Dingo Scout Car.  It did not reach front line service until 1944 when it was employed in the liaison role by all armoured units that took part in the invasion of Northwest Europe.  This set celebrates use of the vehicle by the Regiments of the Sharpshooters (3 CLY, 4 CLY and 3/4 CLY) in Normandy, and across Northwest Europe in the final year of the war

This all new injection moulded plastic kit is the first designed in-house by Modelworks.  It contains 62 finely detailed parts that build into a precise reproduction of the original vehicle, based on measurements of a restored vehicle. This is a limited run model with only 1,000 units to be made.

To be offered in five versions, this special edition has markings (decals) for three Humber Scouts used by the Sharpshooters: That used by 4 CLY's commanding officer, Lord Arthur Cranley at Villers-Bocage; One used by A Squadron, 3/4 CLY's commander, Oliver Woods in the autumn of 1944; and the vehicle of 3/4 CLY's commanding officer, Col Bill Rankin during the 'Great Swan' across France in August 1944.
