Polish Berets
A distinctive characteristic of the Polish Forces in Northwest Europe was the way in which they wore their berets. They tended to be pulled further to the rear and less to the right and this feature makes them much easier to identify in period photographs. The standard colour was grey but where they were operating in specific roles, ie airborne or AFV crew, they wore berets coloured in similar fashion to the British troops they were working alongside.
The images displayed to the right feature the prototype heads. For production the berets were slightly enlarged to better reflect wartime style and two of the heads have received headsets for AFV crew. Note also the Polish Eagle badge applied to the berets.
It is worth noting that Czech Forces in NW Europe wore their berets in a similar style. Their badge (should you wish to adapt it) was similar to the star worn by the Coldstream Guards.
