StuG Schürzen
The venerable Airfix Assault Gun is given a timely makeover using this etched brass set. The frame and skirt armour is simply recreated here along with some useful stowage framing and other accessories to update the basic kit. As you can see from the photographs, the parts break down so that you can realistically simulate battle wear and tear.
The schürzen armour was added to StuGs from 1943 to help protect against hollow charge projectiles that were becoming more common. They were a distinctive feature of late wartime German vehicles.
Our sample kit has been slightly back-dated with the earlier 'box' style mantlet and a replacement gun from the spares box. In due course we will bring out an update set that will include these parts and a corrected 'saukopf' mantlet, plus some tool and stowage details.
