The formidable Siegfried Line of defences along German's western border is analysed in three sections - The first looks at the design and construction phase, the second at its conquest, whilst the third gives a detailed battlefield tour guide of the parts that remain. Expanding on magazine articles for After the Battle, this book has been thoroughly updated and enhanced. The design phase has over thirty pages of floor-plans, schematics and detailed drawings. The conquest section looks in detail at how the line was overcome - specifically covering the battles for Aachen and the Hürtgenwald. The third traces the what's left along its entire length in colour with maps showing where to seek out the last vestiges. Throughout the history is explained with After the Battle's familiar style of photograph comparisons showing how the battlefield has changed.
The book is presented in hard-back with 312 pages.
